Soha ... - Never ...

Soha ne tegyél fóliát a meleg fasírtra - hacsak nem akarod a szivárvány színeit látni :) További konyhaoptika: ( 1 ).

Never cover hot meatballs with a foil, unless you want to see spectral colours :) More on kitchen optics: ( 1 ).

Felső érintő ív és leszálló köd - Upper Tangent Arc and Settling Fog

A második képen jobb oldalt 22°-os halo része is látszik. Mikor a felső érintőív erősödni kezdett, hirtelen köd borult a tájra.

Just as yesterday before sunset, today morning there were faint parhelia, again. They were not worth taking photos of. In the second image on the right, part of a 22° halo can be seen. When the upper tangent arc started to sharpen, suddenly fog sunk onto us.

Pár óra múlva felszállt a köd, és naplementéig melléknapok, 22°-os halo és felső érintőív látszottak.

After a few hours, the fog disappeared and there were parhelia, 22° halo and UTA until sunset.

Yesterday we made an interesting experiment with Alex. We were throwing up the snow, to see whether the trace of the 22 degree halo would appear in the crystals. It was really exciting to see that 22° from the sun, the crystals were glittering in rainbow colours, and they faintly drew the form of the halo. Unfortunately, we could not take a photo of this, but Vikarel, in Heréd was much luckier. He had similar methods last night, and with longer exposure time, he managed to photograph the halo thus forming ( 1 - 2 ). All I could document during our experiment was the streetlamp casting its shadow on the crystals. 10 January 2009 - Lučenec, Slovakia

Kék és zöld sugár - Blue and Green Flash

Mátraszentistván, január 10. Sajnos nincs megfelelő objektívem, de a negyedik montázs, amit Varga Jani készített, teljes szépségében mutatja meg a tegnapi zöld és kék sugarat.

10 January, Mátraszentistván. Unfortunately, I don't have the appropriate lens to photograph the phenomenon, so my images are really bad. But the fourth composite, taken by Jani Varga, shows yesterday's blue and green flash in its real beauty.

2008-as részletes statisztika - Detailed Statistics for 2008

A képre kattintva látható a nagyobb változat.

Click image to see larger version. The Kern-arc that Marko photographed in Kilpisjärvi does not appear in the table, as it only came out in his photo, and was not visible to the naked eye.

2008-as statisztika - Statistics for 2008

Készülnek a tavalyi év statisztikái.

The statistics for 2008 are being prepared. There were 312 halo phenomena in 116 days. January was the most outstanding month with 51 phenomena in 14 days, the reason of which is the Kilpisjärvi halo expedition.

If we consider only the area where I live, there were 240 halo phenomena in 94 days. April and May were the best months with 12-12 days and 32-35 phenomena.
