Yesterday we made an interesting experiment with Alex. We were throwing up the snow, to see whether the trace of the 22 degree halo would appear in the crystals. It was really exciting to see that 22° from the sun, the crystals were glittering in rainbow colours, and they faintly drew the form of the halo. Unfortunately, we could not take a photo of this, but Vikarel, in Heréd was much luckier. He had similar methods last night, and with longer exposure time, he managed to photograph the halo thus forming ( 1 - 2 ). All I could document during our experiment was the streetlamp casting its shadow on the crystals. 10 January 2009 - Lučenec, Slovakia
