Alex képe, nem az enyém - Alex's photo, not mine

On the way home from work, as the train of the metro had got out of its tunnel, I looked towards the Sun as part of the everyday routine. When I caught sight of the beautiful wavy Kelvin-Helmholtz cloud, I jumped up from my seat and rushed to the window to take some photos. Unfortunatelly, however, the trees of the area always got in the way when I pressed the button and no picture came out right. And as KH clouds are really short-lived, I had no more chance after I got off. I called Alex to ask her whether she had photographed anything interesting in the previous minute. Well, I was not disappointed in her at all. :) She had seen exactly what I had, and even made an animation of the clouds. So the artist behind the photo is her, the picture has been attached with Alex's permission. More on her blog.

17P/Holmes üstökös - Comet 17P/Holmes

Október 24-i kitörése óta az üstökös egyre nagyobb. Maximális fényességét talán már elérte, jelenleg 2,6-2,8 magnitúdó. És így néz ki #1 és #2 ha valakinek jobb felszerelése van a megfigyeléshez.
Since its outburst on 24th October, the comet has been expanding. It has probably reached its maximum brightness by now, holding 2.6-2.8 magnitude. And this is what it looks like (#1 and #2) if you have better equipment for the observation.

Ellipszis-alakú halo - Elliptical Halo

While I was taking photos of the iridescent Ac clouds, I noticed this rare elliptical halo that lasted less than two minutes. Further description on haloreports blog.
A képek teljes méretben / Photos in full size: 1, 2, 3, 4
Módosítva, hogy jobban látsszon a jelenség / Enhanced images: 1, 2, 3, 4

These lenticular (Ac len) clouds were visible at the same time in the sky.
