I collected this piece of lava in Iceland. It is from the 1984 eruption of Krafla. The iridescent colours are most probably caused by the iron content of the lava, which creates different oxides at different temperatures. For the explanation I owe thanks to Miklós, Noli's friend, and Marko.

That's interesting :) I had a look at some moldavite on the net. They look cool.
