Míg a nap már jóval a ház felett jár, a kerti tóba nézve úgy tűnik, még a ház mögött van. Ennek a parallaxis a magyarázata. A tükörkép a vízben azt a látványt mutatja, amit a fényképezőgép tükörképéttől látnánk. Ennek a perspektívikus eltolódásnak sok haszna van. Például a Naprendszeren kívüli objektumok távolságának meghatározásában nyújt segítséget.

The reflection in the water shows the image that we would see from the reflection of the camera. This perspective shift has a lot of advantages.
